Quilters, as crazy as the world is, sometimes peace of mind is best found in the studio. What greater joy than seeing a pattern you’ve designed yourself brought to life in stitches?
Some students learn best in a large group, with many different viewpoints and ideas being exchanged– but for our blossoming artists who are at their ease in an intimate setting, I’ve created this more personal approach to teaching Pro-Stitcher Designer.
Join eleven of your peers as you expand your creative arsenal in this two-day class, learning to produce original artwork using PSD’s suite of tools!
You’ll begin the journey with a quick rundown of PSD’s user interface, tools, updates, and available online resources. Once we’re grounded, we’ll leap right in to using the Draw and Edit tools to create designs from scratch, and save them for use at your machine! In addition to original work, you’ll learn to draw and design from inspiration– importing motifs from outside sources, (or your own work for modification), and directly from life, using the Auto-Digitizing and Magic Wand features!
You’ll practice with PSD’s many tools, and learn how and when to apply each one– discovering how to Repeat, Reflect, and Carousel your designs, Split, Connect, Trim, Weld, and Intersect them, and even use the Echo and Rays tools! I will teach you how to create motifs, continuous line designs, and cropped artworks, that fit perfectly in even the irregular areas of your quilts. You’ll learn how to easily migrate your designs to Pro-Stitcher Premium for stitching, and then back to PSD for any needed adjustment.
Before we part, I’ll introduce you to working with True-Type fonts, and how I audition designs over my quilt-tops!
My live virtual classes always include plenty of opportunity for student interaction, both during the lessons and when we close. Whether you have questions about what we’ve covered in class, quandaries from your own quilting journey, or idle curiosities that just won’t let you stitch in peace, bring them to the classroom!
Class size is limited – reserve your spot early! Applicants to this class should be comfortable using Zoom to communicate, and should ensure the stability of their connection, as well as the fidelity of their voice and video communication prior to the day of the class! Hi Susan, will you be scheduling any Designer classes during the week?
Hi, Margaret. Thank you for getting in touch. I do events of all kinds on weekdays, and I try to move them around the calendar to accommodate everyone’s schedules. The last weekday Designer class I hosted was in September, and normally I would schedule one for November, but the Thanksgiving holiday week really narrows down the options! December is much the same, so it’s going to be January before I can manage another weekday only Designer class. I hope that works for you!
